Introductory seminar to improve cycling infrastructure

   

       

On June 14, an orientation seminar on cycling topics was held in Minsk. The Call for Proposals for the Urban Cycling in Belarus project was held in December. As a result, 24 proposals were selected, which will be implemented in 17 settlements throughout Belarus: from small villages to the capital.

On June 14, Minsk hosted an orientation seminar on cycling topics. The main goal is to improve the cycling infrastructure and conditions for the development of cycling. The seminar was attended by government and non-government non-profit organizations, as well as local executive committees.

The Call for Proposals for the Urban Cycling in Belarus project was held in December. As a result, 24 proposals were selected, which will be implemented in 18 settlements throughout Belarus: from small villages to the capital. The list includes Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev, Braslav, Baranovichi, Dyatlovo, Bykhov, Novopolotsk, Vileika, Bobruisk, Slavgorod, Borisov, as well as the villages of Goluby, Mostovsky District, Lavrishevo, Novogrudok District, Zditovo, Berezovsky District, and Lesklinsky District.

There, depending on the offer, there will be bicycle parking lots, bicycle garages, cycling races, bicycle schools, tourist routes, and social advertising will also be developed. In total, it is planned to purchase 43 bicycles and install 21 repair stations, 19 bicycle parking lots, 4 covered bicycle parking lots for long-term storage of bicycles. At the seminar, the participants discussed issues of cooperation, transfer of property, coverage of events in the media, peculiarities of the implementation of projects for the development of cycling.
