A record number of Belarusian cities have joined the international campaign this year - 76. They were held as traditional events - stock Cycling to Work and Car-Free Day - as well as local events.
So on September 21 in Brest the Second Inclusive Family Bike Ride "Together" took place. Its main goal was to draw attention to the problems of families raising children with special needs and to support them. The bike ride is just great for bringing together a wide variety of people and creating a common holiday atmosphere. During the bike ride, children and adults rode along the picturesque embankment of Brest.
During the European Mobility Week, active Gomel residents got a convenient place for meetings and communication, as well as two new bicycle parking lots. The VeloPoint site was opened at 16 Irininskaya st. There are tables and benches, bicycle parking on the territory, and a station for self-repair of bicycles will appear in the near future.
The grand opening of the bicycle parking took place in Baranovichi as well. It was installed on the territory GUO "Secondary School No. 20 in Baranovichi ". Significantly, the bike parking lot was filled with bicycles literally a few minutes after it opened. A little later, a Bicycle Riding School will start working at the educational institution, for which three sets of bicycles and teaching materials will be allocated.
Representatives of the NGO "EcoBum", with the support of local authorities, organized a series of events in the urban village of Shumilino. First, the activists held a competition for the title of "The most cycling organization in Shumilino", then a cyclist counting action in the busiest part of the village - in the central market. Also included in the European Mobility Week program was information campaign on the rules of safe cycling and figure riding competitions.
Grodno residents were pleased with the traditional action “Cycling to work”. More than 100 people took part in it. In addition to fruits and bars, cyclists received only out-of-print booklets “How to ride a bike safely: rules and recommendations”. On the Day without a Car, September 22, in the city center was held HrodnoRovarFest, where young Grodno residents were able to compete as part of a children's bike ride. Also at the festival, an awarding ceremony for OOV volunteers took place. "Velo Grodno"who took an active part in the project "Urban cycling in Belarus".
