We launched fundraising to buy a tandem bike!
Who else but you, cyclists, understand how great it is to learn to ride a bike! Let's provide this opportunity for visually impaired / blind people.
The problem we are solving
About 6,000 people with visual disabilities live in Minsk. As a rule, we rarely see these people, we know little about how they perceive and understand the world. The mental space of the blind is "terra incognita" for our society. We know better the culture of extinct civilizations than the culture of the people living next to us. And their life is full of creative ideas and aspirations, they need to realize their ideas, want to share their thoughts and emotions.
Blind people lack the opportunity to be in the urban space, they lack the ability to communicate.
What are we organizing
To include blind people in an active lifestyle, the team of the Minsk Cycling Society organizes free tandem bike classes for them. Classes are free and anyone can sign up for them until the end of September 2018 through the website https://city.greenbelarus.info.
Joint trips in tandem will allow both blind people and people with normal vision to make new acquaintances, find like-minded people, expand knowledge about the city and the world in general.
Where is it foreseen
We have several routes: a bike path in Loshitsa Park, Yanka Kupala Park, Gorky Park.
What funds are needed for
The collected funds will be used to buy a tandem bicycle, which will be transferred to the Minsk Cycling Society. The acquired tandem will be used for the socialization of visually impaired and blind people in the city of Minsk.
