This year Minsk for the fourth time will join the European Mobility Week (EHM), which is held annually from 16 to 22 September... The main goal is to prove to the townspeople that the car is far from the only convenient way to move around the city; it has much more environmentally friendly alternatives.
Traditionally, the campaign will culminate on 22 September, when the world celebrates A day without a car... So the 2019 EHM theme sounds like “Safe Walking and Cycling”. All events in Minsk are held with the participation of the Minsk City Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
Also one of the organizers is the Minsk Cycling Society within the framework of the project "Urban Cycling in Belarus" funded by the European Union, implemented by the Center for Environmental Solutions and the public association "Minsk Cycling Society" with the co-financing of the GEF Small Grants Program "Development of Cycling in the Regions of Belarus", implemented by the public association "Minsk Cycling Society".

September 22nd, Sunday. A day without a car
In the second half of the day (from 2 pm to 9 pm) a city holiday will unfold on Oktyabrskaya Street. There will be an educational and entertainment area of the Minsk Cycling Society, where you can take pictures in an interesting photo zone, get acquainted with the exhibition "Bicycle and Style", study information stands, watch bicycle movies and participate in competitions for dexterous riding.
In addition, the holiday will include a large children's area, musicians' performances, dance and theatrical performances, a fashionable eco-show, an onsite bicycle repair shop, rental of skateboards and balance boards, a test drive of the Kolobike bicycle and scooter sharing. The evening party will end glowing bike ride "Cyclist give fire!" from Oktyabrskaya street to Yakub Kolas square. Check-in starts at 21.00.
A bright ride is another way to remind you of the need to use flashlights when cycling in the dark: in the front with white light, behind with red. This is especially true on the eve of the autumn-winter period, when daylight hours become very short.
Flashlights are required for all participants of the race. But besides this, the decoration of bicycles with multi-colored luminous garlands is welcome: the brighter - the better! Moreover, there is a good reason for this: the column will move along the main highway of Minsk - Independence Avenue... Two extreme right lanes will be blocked for cyclists, traffic police officers will ensure safety.
Such a moment must be captured! Share photos with a decorated bike on social media with a hashtag # CyclistLight19 before the start, and at the finish line the owner of the brightest bike will have a prize. By the way, owners of any other means of individual mobility (scooters, electric unicycle, segway, etc.) can participate in the race. The main thing is to be able to maintain a general speed of about 15 km / h.
