European Mobility Week and Car Free Day in Minsk

   

"Bike to work" campaign, 'Fruits for cyclists', Night bike ride and other events, organized with the support of Minsk Cycling Community. 

Minsk Cycling Community every year actively takes part in European Mobility Week and a car-free day and this year was not exception. 
On September 22, as part of the "Bike to work" campaign, our volunteers handed out fruits to those who chose bicycle to get work or study. Nicely decorated points with fruits, tea, and information materials were set up in several parts of the city. More pictures from the campaign can be found here.

And in the evening of September 22, festival and colorful bike ride was organized. About one thousand of people cycled on the first lane of Independence Avenue from Lenin Street to the National Library. The festival was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Minsk City Committee, State Traffic Police, Center for Environmental Solutions and other organizations.

The action is one of the events of the European Mobility Week, which takes place around the world from 16 to 22 September. More than 2000 cities all over the world have joined the campaign, 30 of them are Belarusian, including Minsk.
The events in Minsk were supported by the European Union in the framework of the project  "Development of urban cycling for public benefit in Belarus".
