Minsk Cycling Community prepared great programme for cyclists in honor of World Bicycle Day: presentation of new cycling route, lecture of the Dutch city planners, discount registration fee in MCC.
3d June 2018 – first time for celebrating The World Bicycle Day, which was approved on 12 April 2018 as an official United Nations day of awareness about the multiple societal benefits of using the bicycle for transport and leisure.
Minsk Cycling Community prepared great programme for cyclists in honor of World Bicycle Day: presentation of new cycling route, lecture of the Dutch city planners, discount registration fee in MCC.
On June 3d, new cycling route "The Green Cycling Circle of Minsk" was presented for the first time. Cyclists, city activists, journalists and all who are interested in discovering green routes inside the metropolis were invited to join the excursion free of charge.
The route and excursion were prepared by Minsk Cycling Community and was guided by Pavel Harbunou and Maxim Puchinsky. The length of the route was 70 kilometers along the water-green places of Minsk and it took about 8 hours. More than 80 people took part in the excursion, joining it at different city points.
‘Our idea is to present the citizens of Minsk another opportunity to ride a bicycle along the "green" city, in addition to the existing Svisloch bicycle lane. Many parts of this cycling route, which runs along the Minsk water ring, we want to propose to transform into specialized cycling lanes’ – says Pavel Harbunou, the planner of the route and Chairman of the Board.

Great event is organized by Minsk Cycling Community on 4th June: Andre Petting and Wim Salomons, urban planners from the Netherlands, will speak with public lecture "Anatomy of urban cycling".
The event will take place on 4 June from 18.30 to 20.30 at Business Center Imaguru.
In the Netherlands, the concept of cycling was formed for decades and now has a wide meaning. At the lecture you will learn about the economy of cycling, the principles of designing a bicycle infrastructure, the transport policy and the de-automobilization of Dutch cities, and the bicycle as part of city life.
After the presentations of foreign experts, a discussion is planned on how the Dutch experience can help Belarus become a bicycle country. Representatives of the Minsk Cycling Community Anastasia Yanchevskaya and Pavel Harbunou will take part in the discussion.
The events are organized by the Minsk Cycling Community and the Center for Environmental Solutions within the framework of the project "Urban Cycling in Belarus" with the financial support of the European Union.
