September 22 cyclists will "light up" Minsk

On September 22, within the framework of the Day without a car, a big bicycle festival will be held on Lenin Street, which on this day will become a pedestrian one. The culmination of the event will be a competition for the brightest bike and a bike ride along the carriageway of the main avenue.

September 22 as part of the Car-Free Day on Lenin Street, which will become a pedestrian on this day, a big cycling festival will take place. The culmination of the event will be a competition for the brightest bike and a bike ride along the carriageway of the main avenue.
The festive events will begin at 16.00 and will end late in the evening.

16.00-18.00 - face painting and twisting; curly bike driving; Academy of Creativity TALENT; Safe Childhood Center; panels and life-size puppets for photos; intellectual and cognitive games; work of the site from JLLC "PP Polesie".

At 20.30 the competition of the brightest bicycles "Cyclist, give fire" will be held. Spectators will choose a bike with the brightest and most unusual lighting.
At 21.00 the bike ride starts along the lane for public transport along Independence Avenue (from Lenin Street to the National Library). Bicycle lights are required for all participants.

● project presentation "Bike and Style" (#miskbikestyle), which was attended by Belarusian media persons;
● exhibition "With a bike through life" - stories of Minsk dwellers who choose a bicycle for riding in the city and traveling;
● cyclokino;
● a concert with the participation of groups Cassiopeia, Parade of planets, Uzari and string quintet "Serenade";
● free bicycle maintenance from the store "Bicycle gallery";
● a win-win lottery;
● cycling competitions for the fastest and most accurate ride;
● master class on basic bicycle maintenance;
● bicycle driving school.
The holiday was organized by the Ministry of Nature, the Minsk City Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Minsk City Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the UGAI GUVD of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Minsk Cycling Society, the Center for Environmental Solutions, Akhova Ptushak Batkashchyny and other organizations.
The events are timed to coincide with the European Mobility Week and are supported by the European Union within the framework of the Urban Cycling in Belarus project. The goal of this project is to promote the development of urban cycling in Belarus through improvements in legislative and regulatory acts for cycling infrastructure at the national and regional levels; increasing the efficiency of organizations in the field of promotion and development of the bicycle transport system; ensuring the active participation of local residents in drawing the attention of city authorities to the rights and opportunities of cyclists. The project will be implemented in Belarus in 2017-2019 by the Center for Environmental Solutions and the Minsk Cycling Society with financial support from the European Union.
